Dell Servers – Update firmware and Bios on the command line RedHat/CentOs

How to update firmware and the Bios via the command line for a RedHat or CentOs server.

ssh to the server and type the following:

set up repos
wget -q -O - http://linux.dell.com/repo/community/bootstrap.cgi | bash
wget -q -O - http://linux.dell.com/repo/hardware/latest/bootstrap.cgi | bash
yum install firmware-tools
yum -y install firmware-addon-dell dell_inventory_collector
yum -y install $(bootstrap_firmware)
mount -o remount,suid,exec /tmp
srvadmin-services.sh stop   (NOTE: you might have to locate srvadmin-services.sh)
firmwaretool --update --yes

How to reset the R1soft admin (or any user) password CDP3,4 or 5

Just ssh to the the server and type the following command:

 

 # r1soft-setup --user username --pass newpassword
 Server username and password set The R1Soft CDP Server must be restarted for these changes to take effect Use
 '/etc/init.d/cdp-server restart' to restart.
