Plesk – squirrel mail error “You must be logged in to access this page”

July 17th, 2010

If you are trying to install squirrelmail as an application for a domain in plesk, you may run into this error “You must be logged in to access this page”. This can be caused by a lack of permissions on the folder :

/var/lib/php/session

If the permissions are 770 change them to 777, it should allow for squirrel to work properly.

If you want to double check, look at the error log for the domain found at :

/var/www/vhosts/DOMAINNAME/statistics/logs/error_log

You should see an error like this:

 session_write_close() [function.session-write-close]:
open(/var/lib/php/session/sess_rti5h1tadbkosjdhtierr1f0l1,
 O_RDWR) failed: Permission denied

Or something similar.

Plesk Upgrade to 9.5 – Webmail Broken

May 10th, 2010

I’ve recently seen an increase in the number horde webmail that appears broken after a plesk upgrade to 9.5.

This is a fairly simple issue to fix.

First go to the horde hosting folder and verify that the permissions for user psa_cln/psacln are set to read & execute (sometimes its set to deny all). Once changed test horde webmail. If that does not work:

Open up a command line and make sure it has admin privileges.

Next type :

cd %plesk_bin%
websrvmng –reconfigure-webmail <-- wait till complete then defpackagemng --fix --type=webmail.horde Check permissions once more Once complete webmail should be fixed. It's that easy

Plesk – Horde webmail missing folders

January 4th, 2010

I have seen a few questions were people are wondering why those folders are missing. The simple reason is because those people installed horde on a mail server that does not have or support imap.

For HORDE to display those folders you need to use IMAP email.

This is all explained at:

http://kb.parallels.com/en/983

Personally i don’t like horde and would recommend spending a little time installing Round Cube on the server. This is a much better and smoother webmail program in my opinion. A simple google search on how to do it is useful.
