How to test Ubuntu does access to Active Directory?

April 26th, 2018

You can do this by installing ldap-utils on Ubuntu.

1.	sudo apt install ldap-utils
2.	ldapsearch -H ldaps:// -x -D "CN=LDAP_Alternate,OU=System Accounts,DC=example,DC=com" -W -b "dc=example,dc=com"

The above string will connect to a specified domain controller of port 636 using simple bind. Simply replace the domaincontroller with your domain controller and update DC=XX as needed.

In this example: DC=example,DC=com
