Outlook – Delete stuck outgoing mail

February 4th, 2010 by admin Leave a reply »

Sometimes, for various reasons, your outgoing mail will get stuck in the outbox. When this happens future email will not be sent because the first one is stuck. (note: the same principal works for other email clients)

To fix this issue you will need to delete/move the problem email. To do this do the following:

Get Outlook into offline mode

go to File and click on “Work Offline”

Next go to:

“Tools” -> “Send/Receive” -> “Send/Receive Settings” -> “show progress”.

This will bring up the outlook send/receive progress window. Click on Cancel if anything is in progress.

Once all done, go to the Outbox and remove the problem email. ¬†You will want to go to “File” and get Outlook back online.
